scan0021Welcome Char Slater to the Sara’s Legacy Pet Sitters Team!

Char, a resident of Traverse City for over 40 years, recently retired from her position as career advisor for a non-profit agency. She now looks forward to a new career of caring for others furry loved ones. Char grew up around animals but didn’t become a pet parent until the 1990s.

Her first love was a black lab mix dog named Bernie. Then, she acquired a shepherd mix named Maggie (pictured). Bernie and Maggie were great siblings and wonderful companions, sharing lots of long hikes with Char on the VASA trails.

Although Char currently does not share her life with a furry friend, she frequently has the pleasure of caring for her family and friends’ dogs and cats when they travel. Char says, “I will care for your animals like they are my own – with lots of love and kindness.” Char has already proven herself to be an invaluable addition to the team. “Char brings such warmth to those she visits,” relates Susan, “and she is meticulous about their care.”

Giving Back is Important to Us

All of Sara’s Legacy Pet Sitters clients are loved, well-cared for and an integral part of their families, but sadly this is not the case for all dogs and cats. For this reason, Sara’s Legacy gives a portion of its profits to help those in needs. Over the years we’ve supported local organizations like

Cherryland Humane Society, AC PAW, Un-Cats Feline Rescue, and H.A.N.D.D.S. to the Rescue. We also support Best Friends Animal Society. As an active member of Pet Sitters Network North, Sara’s Legacy also assists in fundraising events, like our Annual Dog Walk. This year the funds raised went to the Silver Muzzle Cottage. We appreciate those in our community that give of their time and resources to make the lives of dogs and cats better. Our wish is that every dog and cat had a family who loved and cared for them.

Feels like Summer!

It’s been quite the experience and I appreciate all those who trust me with their precious furry and feathered family members. My mission for Sara’s Legacy is to serve others in my community by providing exemplary care for their four legged and feathered loved ones.  When you are away from home for whatever reason; perhaps for business, an illness, or a much needed vacation, we want to provide you with peace of mind, assured that your pets are being loved and cared for.  Whether it’s taking extra time to help a shy dog feel more confident or comforting a sick doggie, we help the animals in our care relax and know they are loved.
